Post 996 owner survey.

I don't want to start the 993 VS 996 thing here - IMHO both great cars, period.

I'm curious to know from current 996 owners WHO USED TO OWN 993s: What are the top things you like better about your 996 and top things (if any) you miss from your 993. I love my 993, but could do a 996 in a couple years. I'm curious of the impressions from those that have made the transition.

Thanks

It's been quite some time (November of 2000), so my memory is a bit foggy.

My 993 sounded way better, felt less GT (more visceral), but that's about all that I liked better about it.

My 996's top mechanism (cab) is just 100% night and day from the archaic POS they used in the 993s. I no longer have to put on a cover and the windows auto drop about an inch when you open the door and raise back up an inch upon closer. While still sucking pretty hard, the interior on my 996 is a considerable improvement to the little changed 1970s one found in my 98 993. Also, while I miss the four wheel drifts and occasional kicking out of the **** end, the PSM that keeps the 996 from doing so is FANTASTIC. I (like most folks) can drive my 996 WAY faster, WAY safer. One of the most important diffs is that the 993 is just flat boring and asleep under 5k while the 996 gets up off it's **** closer to 4k.
