Rev Limiter
I was just wondering how does a rev limiter work really? cut off the power on the sparks? wouldnt this be bad for the engine crank to have such a sudden cut of boost and then back again and then off again at such a high frequency?! even other mechanical parts that are moving at their extremes?

Yes, it starves the engine by cutting off fuel.
So long as you hit redline while accelerating there shouldn't be too much damage, if any. Just don't hit it by downshifting into the wrong gear <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />
