2000 GT3 Price?
I was wondering what a reasonable price to pay for a 2000 gt3 with 25k miles on it. I am having a hard time finding others for sale and was wondering what the going price should be. Thanks.

Is it a Cup car or a roadcar?

I wouldn't pay more than you can afford to lose. If the car is a real GT3 and is registered for road use in the US, it is probably illegal. If DOT finds out, they can confiscate the car and crush it. It is low odds that this would happen but do you want to take that chance?

For what it's worth, there are a few street GT3's from '99-'00 that were legitimately imported into the US *and* DOT/EPA approved before PCNA decided to make it very hard for importers to get DOT/EPA approval (Wallace out in Texas ended up getting stuck with a few of them they couldn't get approved). Back in 2000, there were 2 996 GT3 clubsports up in the Bay Area that were DOT/EPA approved that sold in the $150k range. And there were one or two others I recall that sold for about the same price. The prices will go down for these cars since demand for these older 996 GT3's will wane with the coming release of the '03 GT3's.
If it were me, I certainly wouldn't pay more than $80k since for a little more you could just get an '03 GT3.
If you do decide to go ahead with this, diligently examine all the DOT/EPA paperwork. Personally, I wouldn't go near it without any of the paperwork. Even if it has a title from a US state, it doesn't mean diddly-squat as it's very easy in some states (like FL) to get a state title for a car even though it's not DOT/EPA approved. Also find out who did the conversion (I think all the GT3's that were legitimately imported were done by the same 2 importers) and ask them for documentation.

Kyopo seems to have confirmed what I suspected. About a year ago I thought I saw one of these (yellow GT3) parked in a parking garage in Daly City, CA. I thought it was odd but didn't really think much more about it as I assumed there were a few imported and later when reading this topic I assumed it was someone's conversion. Perhaps it was indeed one of the few cars Kyopo has mentioned.
