Ed, I ordered my X-51 on Oct.5th(I believe). My dealer, Aristocrat Motors(Merriam,Ks.)said "no problemo con tu carro, X-51 IS available." By the way, if you are looking for an awesome dealer talk to Aristocrat- Arnie Mcnett,913-677-3300. My order: arctic silver,18" Carrera whls.w/crests,030(rigid) susp.,leather sport seats w/crests,some option with a bunch of stainless steel looking accents,I.E. shifter, handbrake, door sills, funky exhaust tips, etc..,Bose upgrade $875, yes-a sunroof, rear spoiler like Don's,(they ordered it late so I get to keep my stock bonnet too),I can't remember what else w/out my order sheet. Price came in at around 93K, they discounted it 4K.I will put 10K down and finance for 4 years. My car payment is $500 more than my house pmt! How's that for Porsche crazy? My wife has no Idea since it is my co. car. If she did she'd s#!t an anvil. As far as an '03 quota,my dealer knew nothing about it(or wasn't saying).

One more thing, or ten, nobody in the local P-club knew any thing about X-51. We have a fairly good sized club with quite a few 996's and some very rabid Porsche fans.No one(sales, mgt, service) at my dealership even knew what X-51 is! I had to educate them and show it to them on the options list.I conclude this: It doesnt matter how many they can or will build, they wont sell many 'cause no one knows what the *!$*# it is. BY the way, what do you estimate # of miles as the break-in point for X-51? thanks

Hey Blustem, in the unfortunate event you ever find yourself having to rationalize your Porsche payment to your wife, as a last resort you can always put the car payment in the proper perspective by recalculating what your house payment would be if you were to pay it off over the same four years as your 911. Let's hope the matter just stays buried in the books.

Cool

Blustem, you need a bigger house!

I have done my fair share of education too. Did you get the confirmation sheet back from PCNA yet? Make sure you get one to verify the order is accurate!

I'm jealous that you got more money off!

As for break-in, hard to tell. I only managed to get 500 miles on the car before my first DE with it so that was my break in. The car only has 1300 miles on it now. I maybe will put 3-4k a year on so Porsches new break in specs are nearly impossible.

Ed, I did get the confirmation sheet and everything came in OK. Bigger house? I'm trying to convince my wife to go to a smaller one in order that we may purchase a fine condo on South Beach. No such luck. We have rooms in our house I've never even been in. These rooms are for collecting dust and meeting with life insurance salespeople.

Also, Ive got my eye on an '01 Sea Ray 410 Sundancer w/Cummins diesels. The equity in my house would be a nice fat down payment and we could live on the boat.A condo you could drive! She liked this idea even better.

Cool

I have to agree that the idea of a nice condo in South Beach and a 40 foot Searay sound very good.

I am desperately looking for an old stock kit that someone missed selling. No luck so far.

I'd think you'd be money (and power) ahead by

A) Buying one of your buddy's 3.8 conversions and then...

B) Selling your documented perfectly running low mileage engine to someone else

Thanks but that was in 2003. In my observation, 996 OEM accessories/options seem to go up over time so not sure that's entirely an accurate representation of the current pricing(assuming you could get one). But either way, it will cost you at least 5 digits.

FWIW, the aluminum intake manifold is the only thing you can't replicate or reproduce via 3rd party reasonably IMO for the x51.
