Default carfax error

I have been looking at a car that has been reported to carfax as a lemon. It's a 99 coupe. It has a CPO warranty and the owners says it must be some type of mistake. My first reaction was not to mess with it but I am reconsidering it.

There are not too many reports of service on the carfax (like 4 or 5) and since it is a cpo it sounds logical that is could be a mistake. Does anyone have experience in getting something like that fixed? I wouldn't make him an offer until I had proof that is was an error and that it has infact been fixed, I guess I'm just wondering if this is something that can be fixed in a matter of days or if it's going to take much longer to correct...

As far as why it's listed that way, the owner says he has no idea.

thanks

Check the title and also have a Porsche dealership pull the service records. Honestly though, carfax makes so many mistakes I wouldn't bother (my dads 996 C2 is apparently a GT2 according to them. My friend's late 80's mercedes is apparently a 2001 model. Heck even a car that I know for a fact to have a salvage title on it shows up clean on carfax).

I just called PCNA (800-Porsche) and they don't release information relating to lemon buybacks. Very frustrating.

Any other ideas? Carfax (which doesn't have phone cust service, only email) said if I send them the incorrect title and the corrected title, they will fix it. There is no incorrect title!!!

I just don't want to buy it with LEMON on the carfax because when I sell it I will run into this again. I really don't think it was a lemon though.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. (I really like this car and want to make this workout).

your state's DMW (or MVA, whatever they call it in your state) should be able to solve this for you.

Too much hassle, and you KNOW it will come back to haunt you someday, kinda like a mistake on a credit report, never really seems to go away.
I'd pass, let the seller deal with it, afterall it's his problem.
