I wouldn't be so sure of that. For one, around a track I think this would dance circles around the Veyron, secondly the CCR has been officially clocked (there's som procedure, I forget what) at 245, the CCX undoubtedly will prove faster. The Veyron claims 253, but that has yet to be officially tested IIRC.

the CCR has been officially clocked at 356 km/h where as the veyron has been officially clocked at 407km/h big difference. the veyron puts itself beyond supercars, dont be put off by the veyrons looks it is a tiny car built like a race car, full monocogue chassis. it is almost half the height of a vw polo. you almost cant compare the veyron to other supercars because it simlpy blows them away.
a 0-62-mph acceleration run (0-100 km/h) can be done in 2.5 seconds, 0-124 mph can be reached in 7.3 sec., and 0-186 mph in 16.7 sec.
this car was designed for one thing...to be the fastest car which can out do everything else

Half the weight of a VW polo? Since when does a VW polo weigh 8320lbs? The veyron weighs in at 4160lb or 1887kg, which is what kills it in my mind (and in the mind of th Gordon Murray apparently). Also, the CCR was clocked at 388km/h, not 356. Though it looks like in the end the CCX didn't get the planned 900hp and instead got 806, so I guess it won't be beating the Veyron in the top speed test, though it's still better handling and 1/2 the cost.
Oh, and as far as the Bugatti outdoing everybody else, there is an American company (I forget which) who says preliminary tests show they can best it, they just need to get a final version together.

i didnt say half the weight i said half the height. it is a vey small car. which weighs quite a bit. well i cant wait to see this americam car which will beat it, in true american fashion it will probably be a huge capacity pushrod v8. will it see production?? and where is this americam company getting the money from? VW loose ****loads of money for every veyron they build, as i said before they only did it to be the best and im sure they have ****loads to loose. does ths american company have money to burn? it doesnt count if its not a production car by the way. otherwise we could just go out and buy(money permitting) fuel rail dragsters. that would be quicker.
it was 388 your right.

I forget which mag the american car was in, either Car and Driver, Road and Track, Motor Trend, or Autoweek (ok, so that doesn't narrow it down much)...I think it might have been Autoweek. IIRC it was a V12, though it was also high displacement IIRC. It was one of those companies like Vortech (though it wasn't Vortech) where it's about as production as an Enzo (so it's no BMW 3-series, but it will be street legal and anybody with the money can buy it).
Another thing the king's sword has going for it is the ability to use the same car for both the side impact and frontal impact crash test...now that's safe.
I wonder if anybody has tried modding a McLaren F1. According to Gordon Murray the F1 would only need 740hp to match the veyron's top speed...plus the F1 can seat 3 and hold luggage.

hey i went through my 5th gear collection and found one about the CCR with Tiff Needel driving, Tiff described the handling of the car to be "a bucket on ball bearings", he said it was the worst handling supercar he has ever driven and the best handling car he has ever driven was the lamborghini murcielago. he said the only thing the CCR was good for is straight line speed and the gearing was so long for the track they were at. i personally havnt been in any of these cars, infact i have never seen one in real life but i take Needel's word for it because he is an extremly good driver.

I dunno, I remember the Road & Track article saying it was pretty damn good. Also, the paper specs say it's good. At high speed the McLaren, Enzo, Veyron, and Koenigsegg are all going to be jittery since they are full ground effect vehicles (downforce increases as a square of speed, so you lose a good bit of suspension travel at high speed)
