Default Advice needed for a novice: dies this look like a decent buy?

I'm looking for a '99 to '01 911 cab. I came across this CPO'd '99 with only 20k miles on autotrader. The dealer is Sun Motor Cars (I know nothing about them):

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...en&cardist=198

The carfax is included and it looks like it had 2 owners before the dealership bought it from an auction; it was originally a lease then had a second owner. It is Porsche CPO'd for 2 years.

They are asking $43999 - Maybe talk them down to $40k?

What do the experts think?

FYI.....you can NOT get a CPO'd car from a dealer unless it is a Porsche dealer! BEWARE!!!!!!

Overpriced, auction car, and a lie on the CPO. One word.....run. Also doesn't look very well optioned at all both inside and out.

Yes, they are a Porsche Dealership. They had a car I was interested in buying about a year ago.

and it IS a CPO car

I would verify that. But sounds like they are. Still think it is overpriced.

I hate to bring attention to something so seemingly minor, but.... the header on this thread says "dies" and not "does" this seem like a good buy. Don't know if this is your unconscious concern about buying the car or a bad omen. Nevertheless, folks in the forum will give you good advice.

Default The "i" is next to the "o" key but maybe there is something deep in my sub-concious!

In any case - I'm looking for advice and what would be a suggestion of a decent selling price for a car like this.

Wow if that's the competition, I have nothing to ever worry about. That car is definitely overpriced and looks likes it's off the auction block. It's not very pretty either, for lack of other words.

The car is a bit bland with that color combo, in my opinion, and it's sitting on 17s. I think you'd spend so much in rims and mods just to get it decent, that you'll be better off starting out with a better car for a similar price.

I agree. A green 99cab w/49k sold near Philly for 30,500 a few months ago. It has low miles, but it looks pretty blah. If you are willing to spend 35-40k for a 99 you can do much better than this one.

In fact, here's a MUCH better version in the same color being sold by someone on this board:

Absolutely stunning 911 in Arctic Silver with Black leather seats. Never seen snow or rain. Stored winters. Barely driven over 2500 miles per summer. An impeccably maintained toy. Body is FLAWLESS. Includes windscreen and hardtop(never used). New continental 18" tires, turbo look wheels, full leather interior, power seats. 15000 mile service performed at the Porsche Exchange. CARFAX IS 100% CLEAN. NICEST 996 ON THE MARKET!!!! Get ready for summer now! 42995 obo I'm negotiable. VIN: WP0CA2999XS650578

I have plenty of pics if interested. Send me a private message or call 312-835-5499 or 312-466-0432. Just did a full inspection at Loeber Motors in Lincolnwood IL.

Selling because I bought a 2006 c2s cab. NO OTHER REASON. The car seriously kicks butt and if you're considering one of these, I'd highly recommend you check mine out. I DOUBT you find a nicer one if this is what you want. I am an **** car freak who maintained the car to perfection.

Take a look at the pictures of it in the other thread. I'll bet you guys could come to an agreement between 40-41 and both be happy

That's me selling that car (Arctic Silver/Black) 42995obo. If you like it, go to this thread, look at the pics and tell me your thoughts. Mine is ten times nicer than that dealer's, and better priced.

Default The car is also Artic Silver but it does have a Grey interior

I could care less about options (other than heated seats)

But it does have the 2 year CPO warantee.

Several comments have indicated that it is over-priced but no one has indicated what a good price would be.

I'm listening!

5k or more high for a 99, even a Cab. For that money you can get an 00 or 01, even a facelift 02 coupe with perhaps a bit higher mileage if that interests you
