buying 996 - slight transmission noise...
Hello all,
Tis been a while but i put a deposit on a 996 today
During test drive i noticed a whiney noise (bit like a supercharger and no its not got one sadly) when in 3rd gear accelerating over 2.5 - 3k revs.
Its going into the main dealer before i get it but i just wanted to prepare some questions for the dealer ahead of time.
Its a uk 996 V reg 1999 carrera 2 btw ...

The drive train/engine of the 996 does have a "whine" to it. It could be normal or it could be a problem. The only way to know is have the car inspected prior to purchase as you intend to do.
