PCM2
I ordered PCM with my Targa and, while I like the concept, the system has been nothing but trouble. PAG, in its infinate wisdom, placed the CD-ROM drive in the main console. Not only does this drive occupy desirable real estate, but my unit makes a relatively loud and extremely annoying clicking noise (much louder than the cutomary spinning noise we are used to hearing from a regular CD player, DVD player or CD-ROM drive). The dealer has attempted to fix this problem twice without any success. The first time they ordered a replacement CD for me and the second time they replaced the CD-ROM drive. After my second visit, I spoke with the service manager and we set an appointment for June 19 with a PCNA represetative. I met with him and he tried some "tricks" but the problem remains. Needless to say, I am pretty ticked off. The cost of this option is an outragous $3540 (all other NAV systems I've seen cost less $2000 and work without a hitch or peep).
I have heard that PCM2 will be out in September or so, I am wondering if it can be retrofited into a 2002 Targa?
NMC
Every car we have sold and delivered with PCM has had a SUPER loud CDROM. I actually discourage this option because of the cost and the space needed. We have removed a customers PCM and replaced it with the newer 'Traffic Pro' NAV/CD Player headunit and the customer is VERY happy. The Traffic Pro is about $2000 installed and is the size of a regular CD/Radio unit. This may be an option for you. Discuss this with the PCNA rep, Porsche seems very liberal with what they will help a customer with....
Good Luck.
