Just Purchased an 01 996 Cab... Have Questions
I just purchased an 01 996 Cabriolet with 8000 miles from a private seller. The car is Arctic Silver with black interior and black top. Options include 18 inch turbo wheels, 3 spoke leather wheel, power seat package, technic package, design package, leather seats, and colored rim crests. I would like to change the wheels out to 18 inch sport classic rims and was wondering how to do this at a low cost?? Should I post the wheels on this board?? Is there a way to exchange the wheels at a dealer? I would also like to add flared rocker panels and was wondering how much this would cost.
Thanks,
Scott

It's worth a try asking the dealer. I needed new rubber on my 996, but I also had the original 17 inchers on my car and wanted to go to 18's. My dealer gave me 1,000. on a trade for 18 turbo's with new rubbers(take-offs on a new incoming). If that doesn't work you may try e-bay or the posts, but it's more work.

After checking with your dealer watch ebay for a while and get a feel for what yours might sell for and what the sport classic's are selling for. This might turn out to be the most economical. One word of caution... Check shipping cost's if you are either selling or buying. It can add up if you are in a hurry, and Porsche guys are always in a hurry

First, if your dealer won't do the swap, go to www.wheelenhancement.com They do swaps. Second, shipping is neglible ($50 via Fed-Ex from anywhere in the US to anywhere in the US) for 4 18" Porsche rims. Third, check the classifieds in the back of PCA's Panorama as well as www.pca.org Fourth, Ebay is a good place to both sell and buy your rims. Too bad you didn't post this a week or so earlier as I have a friend who would have bought the rears.
Oh yeah, and if you prefer the lightest, easiest to clean, best brake ventillating, and nicest looking (IMO) 18" wheel Porsche makes for the 996, I'm selling a set on Ebay (2002 Carerra wheels):

Ah ha, my friend who would likely have bought your rear wheels posted just below this one about wheel enhancement as well :-)

Try Wheel Enhancement, they take trade-ins. I haven't used them but have communicated with them and they seem very good, and I've had many people recommend them to me.
Also check ebay. And like Ben said, take a look at the new Carrera 18" 5-spoke wheels -- they're beautiful. Ben's are brand new -- I wish I had seen his were for sale before I already bought mine -- his are a great price! They're usually $2600+ for the set.
