remoteTop installation
Can anyone comment whether they were able to install the remoteTop without removing the seats. I can't seem to reach the screw to the black box underneath the seat (after trying for about an hour) but I'm also thinking that even if I could, I'll never be able to get it screwed on again.
Help, please!

Seat rail bolts are a 12mm torx socket, by the way.

I got mine from Sears...just make sure you get the right kind...its an External (female) Torx that you need (the socket fits over the part in the car...not the other way around)

12mm External TORX socket
Scroll down to item #77335 External TORX Socket 3/8" E12
I have also seen them at some, but not all Sears.

It took me 15 minutes to install the remote top removing the seat... I bought a set of Torx sockets for about $15 at a local auto shop and used an electric screwdriver.. It is easier than it looks.. Good luck.

For the female Torx 12, Sears, Autozone, Pepboys, ... you name it. Removing the seat is by far the easiest and least aggravating method of the 2 described in the installation booklet.

you don't have to remove you seat.....follow the instructions...it is a little difficult but not toooo......and the wrench is just a regular one, found in every toolbox, which is a must have for the serious modder!!

If you don't remove the seats it's really cramped, tight, dark working conditions. The most difficult part is unplugging the black plug from the box because you can't get a decent grip or any leverage (it's on pretty tight) with your hands crammed in there under the seat. You just have to be patient and work it loose. Also, putting it all back together again is pretty much by feel because you can't see squat. So as you take it all apart, remember how it all fit together so you can do it in reverse by feel. Remember where all the wire bundles go. You want to make sure everything is packed back together nice and tight and nothing is pinched or stressed through the whole range of seat movement. If you have big hands or can't contort yourself into the rear passenger footwell, take the seat out, your back will thank you.
The trick to unscrewing the box anchoring screw is to use a really short stubby screwdriver or an angled screwdriver and make sure you move the seat ALL the way back. A regular length screwdriver just can't get angle to reach. It's not on that tight and if I recall it only takes a half or quarter turn to undo.
Good luck!
