Default Checking Factory Installed Options

Is there a way to check what options were installed in the factory... is there a sticker or something like that somewhere in/on the car?

Also, would you ever buy from carmax? They have the following 996 coupe for sale... 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera 2D Coupe
Exterior Color: Gray Interior Color: Gray Leather
Mileage: 27K
No Haggle Price: $49,998
Blue Book™ Retail Value:
Jan. - Feb. 2006 Edition $54,830

Thx... newbie looking for a '02 Cab or Coupe and learning more and more each day (but still a long way to go to catch up with all of you!)

Under the front hod there is a sticker that will have the chasis, paint code, and ALL the otption codes ordered when new. If that sticker is missing I would be leary (ie, total hood repaint, etc.).

If you can snap a pic or get us the codes we can tell you what options the car was ordered with.

As for the price, I am sure you could get it a bit cheaper than that but I guess not with their "no haggle" bs.

The option list is also posted in the original maintenance manual that came with the car from the factory.

You can also ask a Porsche dealer to print out the vehicle configuration via eDCS thru PCNA and PAG.

Or, you can purchase a COA:

Guys - I have a couple of options codes I haven't been able to decipher. I was able to look up all but 226 and 342. I have the bose stereo, aero kit, and turbo wheels - none of which showed up in the codes. I wouldn't be surprised if the kit was dealer-installed after purchse, but the bose seems more like it would be a factory option.

Can anyone help?

Ahh...forgot about the heated seats. I'm 99% certain its 226, but I will check again when I go out to the car.

Thanks - tried that, but it is a very poor decoder (had less than half of my option codes). I found a better one somewhere else.

Gravedgr ...and the better one would be.... ?

I found this one, but I don't think it has been updated in a while. It does show more than the Rennlist Option Decoder.

Tim, that's the one I used. It found all of mine but 342 and 226. The one here only recognized half the numbers, and some of the ones it recognized were wrong.

Default option decoding

Been viewing the conversation and decided to decifer my codes as well. I need a little help. So far I have the following:

It's a 2000 Carrera Cab. Bought it a month ago with 55K miles on it for $38,900 I have the following list of options:

X46 Aluminum Tiptronic Shifter
X54 Oval Chrome Exhaust Pipes
X70 Metal Door Sill with Insignia
X71 Aluminum Instrument Dials
X98 Aluminium/leather parking break handle
X99 964 3.6 Turbo S flatnose rear fender vents option ??
139 Seat Heating - Left
236 18” tires
249 Automatic transmission
288 Headlight washer
340 Seat heating - Right
424 Automatic heating control
432 Sports steering wheel, leather 363mm (4 spokes) ??
436 3-Spoke steering wheel
437 Comfort seat left
438 Comfort seat right
446 Colored Wheel Crests
476 Traction control
490 Hi-Fi sound system
537 Left seat with positrol and lumbar
551 Air Deflector (Cabriolet)
601 Litronic Headlights
936 Leather seats rear
981 All leather lining
983 Leather seats front

I used both sources suggested above and was unable to identify the following.. Anyone know another source (the dealer did not want to print it for me) or actually know what these codes are?

00501
CO2
XME
XRB
696
750

Thanks for your help.

Johnny - here is what I found on a "post 1970" list. Some of these descriptions may have been changed or updated to include additional selections. Let me know about the last one, OK?

C02 (as in "C" "zero" "two") = Equipped with catalytic converter
XME = Rear centre console painted body color
XRB = 18 inch sport/classic wheels/tires
696 = AM/FM Radio with CD
750 = ?? I could not find a 750 code.

Is it possible that it could be "Z50"? If so,
Z50 = Seatbelts front and rear in Guards red, Speed yellow or Riviera blue

Thanks a lot! That really helps. I think it is 750, but I will look again. I do not have Seatbelts front and rear in Guards red, Speed yellow or Riviera blue, so I am thinking it must be something else. I'll let you know when I find it.

Hi Guys,

As long as we are at it....there are there codes I can not find anywhere:
575
615
670

I'd love to be able to track down these last 3. Any help would be appreciated. Could one of them be rain sensing wipers.
