Post Timers..

Those little electronic devices that you glue on the dash and measure your speed, max trip speed, accelaration, 0-100's, lateral accelaration, deceleration, avg speed, etc...

I know they work on g-force to measure all the above and some have turbo-timers to shut the car engine automatically after cooling the oil in the turbo's..

How are they found and purchased?

There was a thread on the 993 Board a few months ago on these.

Perhaps this is what you are looking for?
I purchased with the new firmware update (just released) and was just telephoned 5 minutes ago that it had arrived at my home (great X-Mas present)! I will use to evaluate performance/enhancements of my 2003 Sonic Yellow WRX-Vishnu stage II-daily drive and, favorite car http://216.110.171.17/vishnueditionwrx.htm, and my 2002 996 C4S porsche!

Best regards, and
Happy Holidays-

Ipath,

You are it! Vishnu is IT! Please let us know about yours and the comparison with the CS4.. This is something we ought to know from a single owner of two of the most stimulating cars..

Which one did you order, is it the PRO or COMP? Will wait for your feedbacks Ipath on both the electronic meters and the cars!

Fadz, any chance you might get it from your side?

WAZ996,
You might check into a Greddy turbo timer. I think they make a "dual" turbo timer that also measures performance numbers. The real trick is going to be if you can find a wiring harness adapter for a Porsche. I installed a turbo timer on a friend’s car (not a Porsche) a while back and it was very simple. The only problem with turbo timers is they keep the car running after you turn off the ignition in order for the turbo to properly cool down; there might be some issues with the alarm system or computers on the Porsches that might interfere with this somehow. I have heard horror stories of guys who left there cars in gear, turned the ignition off, let go of the clutch and slammed into another car, so be careful not to leave your car in gear. Having a turbo timer is fun when you get out of your car with it still running, lock the doors and walk away. You get all sorts of looks. Good luck.

Andrew,

I've driven a modded subie GT4 with a turbo timer installed, even made 4.6sec to the 100 coz it had a those options..

My 996 is not a turbo therefore i dont really need an engine cut-off delay.. I guess the G-Tech is more meant for our cars.

Got it,

I was thinking that you had the need for the turbo timer. Then go with the G-tech, they are supposed to be really accurate I think some magazines might even use them on their test cars. Check Ebay they might have some good deals on them.

Andrew,
Well i found a Gtech pro dealer on ebay.. I registered, followed link and cant get to purchase the item to be shipped to Lagos here..
So i contacted the company by sending them an ebay message.

here;s the link: G-Tech Pro

The problem also is that I dont use credit card from here (too dangerous from this country) so i asked them to give me an account number to transfer money to... i doubt they'll take me for real!!

If the dealer does not respond to your email then go ahead and report it to ebay. If he says he cannot send it to where you live then just make sure you tell him you are going to get the item from another seller so that he does not leave negative feedback. I do not think this guy will have any problems sending it to where you live because the auction says "will ship internationally". As far as the payment goes you can set up a Paypal account using a bank account instead of a credit card. I think you can use Paypal internationally. Hope that helps.

Thumbs up

WAZ996/To all:
I ordered the Gtech Pro <competition> model ($249.00) in the USA...the system is autoleveling, and has additional features when compared to the previous G Tech Pro model ($149.00) as per their web site:
http://www.gtechpro.com/

Data-
Timed acceleration runs (0-60 feet, 0-60 mph, 1/4 mi, etc), Hp, Torque, G's, braking distance, and miscellaneous, are all calculated...

We just got 4-6 inches in the NE Ohio area last night - so I'm waiting for some dry, albeit, cold weather to test/compare my C4S and Vishnu stage II WRX! Both are nontheless unique in character-each pleases in different ways...I particularly have enjoyed the modding of my ~$25,000 MSRP priced Subaru impreza WRX (compare to over ~$80,000 for my 2002 C4S black/natural leather (+ only fabspeed exhaust mufflers as significant mod to date)
I will post performance characteristics when complete...
