Angry Maximum frustration - door dings

My wife took the kids to a movie today... and the car took two door dents, one on each side, right at the hip line. I just can't understand how disrespectful people can be. Just really p*sses me off!

Anyway, anyone ever gone to a shop to have door dents removed? Is it worth it? My concerns:
Paint matching - I've never seem them get it perfect. It's Lapis Blue.
Cost - trying to claim it on insurance is a sure bet for a rate hike.

Steamed in winter,
Jack

I feel your pain! <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" />

I've used one of the paintless dent removal places on another of my cars - took out 5 or 6 dings. If they're good, it looks absolutely perfect afterwards.

Take it here:

I used them for a door ding on my M3 and they were excellent. The fix was perfect. The guy pushed this long metal rod thing through the top of the door between the glass and the window seal and worked the ding out from within - requires quite some expertise.

Only problem is that if they can't get through the top of the door they may have to remove the inner door panel. If you don't trust them to do that (although they've probably done it before), you may want to remove the panel at home yourself.

Removing the door panel requires removing the little airbag label with dental floss (I think) to get access to a screw. And then some other stuff.

SpeedGeek, noticed you are posting from South Africa! Long way from the South Bay!

This sounds stupid as h*ll, but is it possible that the $29.95 "Ding King" would work in this particular case.

I don't know whey I'm even suggesting this but it just may work in this case! <img src="graemlins/icon107.gif" border="0" alt="[icon107]" />

I also recommend the paintless dent removal. My cab got hit by a deer last year and left two dents in the front fender and passenger door. My local dent remover removed them for $400 and no one can tell the car was ever hit. As for insurance, my understanding is that your premium won't go up if you were not at fault.
