Question Need help, Some may say its a no brainer

Cayenne TT vs. C4S?

As an owner of a '99 986, I have reached the point where I want to purchase another Porsche. Since I live in Chicago, I don't drive my Bosxter in the winter. I would still not feel comfortable purchasing another Boxster and use it for winter drivng. I strongly want to stay with the Porsche Brand.

Being able to afford more Porsche and requiring more space I have placed an order for a Cayenne TT. However this thing is becoming riddled with problems such as unavailable options. For the money I am spending I can get a well equipped Carerra 4S. At some point in the near future I will be having children. We will be keeping my wife's car, but my needs for an SUV are growing.

1. Can anyone give me recommendations on driving a C4S as a daily commuter during and winter months? I have seen the winter tire articles in Panorama and Christophorus.

2. Do you find a second vehicle is still needed to carry large items, since after a passenger and a couple of smalls bags that's it?

3. Does the roof transport system solve the problem with tranportation space?

4. Aside from, Porsche should not have built an SUV sentiment, which one would you recommend?

5. Does the C4S have the collapsible spare, so how do you get around only 50 miles of safe driving while travelling?

Entirley different vehicles, but I am vacillating between the two.

I will be eliminating the Boxster and VW for either of the two. If I get the C4S, I almost have to get my wife a new car (SUV). Boy, would she love that! <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />

FWIW:

Can't comment on driving a C4S in the winter, but my suggestion would be to cancel/delay the Cayenne order until the options you want are available. I mean for that amount of money Porsche should have every option available. It was the same way when the first 02 996s came out.

If I were in your shoes I would do Nothing. Winter is half over ...sort of...and you can then wait for the second year Cayenne, and get everything you want on it.

Then I would get your wife a Ford Escape and you can order a new 997

If you are that intent on spending that much money on a vehicle so you can haul your stuff, then wait a year. Then you can get the options you want and won't have to deal with all the bugs that come with the first model year.

Try this, forget the C4S (underpowered?) and go all the way for a TT with the X 50 package.

Consider a regular Cayenne S or RR, and when the Cayenne TT is all sorted out then you can pop for it, and you won't take too big a hit if you trade up.

Personally, even though I'm #1 on the list for the Cayenne I've decided to wait for my particular options. If it's too long, then I'll follow the advice I gave you.

By the way, there can be some serious " business tax advantages" to purchasing a vehicle over 6000 lbs GVW (i.e. with passengers).

My intent is to purchase another Porsche. It just so happens they came out with an SUV right at a time period when I need one. I cannot begin to show how emotional I am about my Boxster.

I would have gotten an S, but as fate has it the air-suspension is not available. I would have been adding features to an S to make it a TT short of the engine itself. I am bummed out they won't allow red calipers and 5" color TFT as options to an S.

Figure better to get TT than to be singing; I wisha, shoulda, coulda...
