Lack of Manual Interior Door Lock

Lack of Manual Interior Door Lock
Hi All,
I doubt I'm to only one to notice this but other than the electronic door lock/unlock button on the dash (around the radio and climate control), there is no other way to "manually" lock and unlock the doors on the 996 (there isn't a manual ****/lever like most cars have on the door panel).
It occured to me yesterday, that if you were inside the car, with the doors locked, and for whatever reason, either the battery went completely dead/major electrical problem, or the electric door locks broke - how would you get out? Yes I know if just the door locks went bad, worst case you'd open the window and get out that way. But what if you lost all power? How would you get out.
I know its unlikely to happen, but I'm just curious. Am I missing something obvious or is this just a bit of bad engineering?
Thanks,
Jeff

Um, I never really paid attention but even if you manually lock the door with the lock button, couldn't you open it by simply pulling the driver's door handle (without having to push the unlock button)? I think the lock only locks the doors from the outside (as well as locks the gas tank door) but you can still get out from the inside.

Hi,
Thanks for the replys.
I had to test your answer and you are right. Pulling on the handle once from inside does nothing (other than lower the door window), but pulling it a second time opens the door. Interesting. I would never have thought. I guess it must be some sort of mechanical action that opens the lock.
Thanks... one more mystery solved.
