Smile C4 on ice

Don't know if anyone saw the news coverage of the winter storm in Texas this week, but we got hit with several inches of ice. Now this isn't like driving in snow. It's like driving on marbles.

I couldn't WAIT to get the C4 out for a test, but first I had to break off several hundred pounds of the 8-inch thick slab of ice blocking my garage exit! Here's a link to some pics and a video of how well the AWD worked.

May seem like small thing to some of you in northern latitudes, but I was absolutely thrilled at the way it handled the slick ice, even going uphill.

For those who are interested in the factory Porsche sport exhaust, the video also does a pretty good job of capturing how it sounds at low speed.

(You need to sign up at ImageStation to download the video, but it's quick and free; all you need is an email address. BTW, there are lots of other good Porsche photo albums at ImageStation).

Very nice! I must agree the C4 does well on ice and the PSM really helps. What tires are you running?

PZero on 18" wheels; a little over 5K on them. And cold at the time the video was taken.

I always thought the C4 (as opposed to the C2) would do well on ice even without winter tires. Snow would probably be a different matter.

"do well on Ice" - I wouldn't make a habit of it!

Computer controlled breaking/acceleration is really only as good as the contact patch with the road.
- but of course this is from a guy living in Buffalo, New York - My street has looked alot like yours since since last December!

Thats nice, but when you were playing in the snow i took my c2 cab down to Torre Pines with the top down and traced Tigers footsteps in 82 degree weather.. shot a 83.

Have fun in the snow, we visit it once in a while in my home in telluride.

My C4 does great in snow and ice! I have snow tires and Tequipment chains if I need them and I drive ALL winter in the worst conditions! My car is better than my Jeep Overland in the winter!
