Arrow Smaller thicker steering wheel?

I have the XPA 3-spoke leather steering wheel on my '03 C4 but I believe there is an option on the GT3 for a smaller, thicker wheel. I called my dealer yesterday and they knew nothing about it.

I could do with a little extra legroom (I'm 6ft7in) and would appreciate any information about this part.

It's option CPZ.
The grip is thicker, but outer diameter looks the same as the standard 3 spoke.

Option XSU lowers the drivers seat with 10mm.

Spie--you may also want to consider the GT-3 Console Delete, noticeable increase in knee room and I am only 6'3". Better look too, IMO, my favorite interior mod.

What is involved with changing out the steering wheel?

I was considering the thicker wheel option but wondering how hard it is to install....

What about an aftermarket steering-wheel? I have the Techart 34cm wheel, and I'm more than happy with it!

The Techart steering wheel is (I think) identical to the Ruf wheel and the wheel sold by AJ-USA. I believe that the factory used this wheel for a number of custom one-offs prior to the 996. If anyone is interested in this wheel, there is talk of possibly putting together a group buy on these over at the 993 forum.

Does any one make a thicker aftermarket wheel in carbon/leather that will accept the oem airbag? I'd definitely be interested in one of those. I have a very nice one one made by Brabus for my CLK430.

Same styling as the one I have, but 37cm instead of 34cm, so that the OEM airbag (and Porsche crest! ) can be fitted.

Greetings,

PS: I'm not related to Techart, just a happy customer.
