996 hardtop hoist system

I bought a hoist assembly from MidAmerica (Tweeks/MADVette) which I think was ~$100? It works fine although does tend to want to swing/rotate if you aren't careful. Mine is kind of like the block/tackle assembly that is pretty smooth, plus it has the wide padded support bar.
(To tell you the truth, the same assembly in tweeks is more expensive than the same part from the MidAmerica 'Vette catalogue. I guess they assume Porsche customers will pay more - I paid the 'Corvette' price!)
You can spend a LOT more if you want a powered version but I considered that a complete waste of time for the number of times I do this. Also, if you are removing the top on your own then the electric version probably won't help you much anyway - the top isn't heavy, just awkward.
I recommend that you get a trolley to support the top and cover.
Hope this helps

I did the R&D for the one that Performance Products sells. I think I like it better than the tweeks one only because I beleive the bar puts creases in the top. The one I did has special hooks that don't touch the seals. I'm guessing they are about the same $$.
