Agree 100%, buy the C2. The only reason I'd buy an AWD would be if I was going to a C4S/Turbo. C4 is heavier, in all accounts slower, and doesn't handle the same. San Fran = no question, C2

don't waist the money unless it is a C4S wide body, with the special rear bumper (air inlets!)
I got a C2 and the skidding thru the corners is an amazing and still veyr controlled feeling...you'll love it!

Hmmm....I'll chime in...I have a C4 and I LOVE the AWD...also, I am from Northern Ca....and I know it can rain there pretty hard, the AWD is SOOOOO much more stable in the rain or wet roads....i.e. fog covered roads...Also I drive my cars VERY hard....and I can say that 99.9% of people with a C2 cannot pull away from me...so the whole C2 is faster only matters on a race track, and for that matter, the C4 hooks up better exiting corners, so you can launch it out of corners better. The ONLY down side to the C4 I have seen was the understeer in the stock suspension. I have the PSS9's and it has solved that problem. More complex, yes, less fun, NOOOO....I have a blast with the AWD system...if driven properly its amazing...drive them both and go wih the one you like better.

Definitely go for the C4S cab, you will get so much more for your money, with great looks too!!
However, either way it's like arguing over which supermodel you want to bang, really no wrong choice here.![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

The best thing to do is to go to a dealer and drive a C2 and a C4 back to back. I did that and came away liking the feel of the C4 over the C2. However, if you get a C2, I would make sure that it has PSM. It's standard on the 4, but was not on the 2 until '04 or '05-not sure which. And it can't be added later. The stock suspension on both is not great due to US DOT requirements, so plan on spending $3K to put a suspension on and do an alignment. Considering that you live in the bay area and do get a fair amount of rain, the C4 is a nice car to have.

I have a C2 cab without PSM. Never really need it and I consider it a nice to have. If you don't have too much experience with a high power sports car, I'd get a PSM for sure. I never drive aggressively unless the road is nice and dry.

C4S cab were produced only after 04 MY and were more expensive because they had more options standard and turbo brakes. At the same time they did not import the C4 cab in the US anymore.
For SF, I would get a C2 with PSM, >02.
So do some research and find the body style/price combination you prefer
