RMS replacement with pictures
Found this today, don't know if it has ever been posted. There may be some dedicated gearheads who would attempt it, I'm not one of them!

The newer style RMS looks similar, but is different. Most seals have a spring on the inner area,
(where the seal would make contact with the crank).
The updated RMS has no spring. When you buy the newer RMS it has a plastic piece on the inside of it. This is there to protect it while installing it with the factory tool. After it is installed, the plastic piece is tossed in the garbage.
The newer RMS retails for $16.04.
I would also recommend that the IMS ( Porsche calls it "Bearing base gasket") be replaced also. If it has the older style bearing base, then it should be replaced with the newer style. The way you can tell, when it is removed the old style gasket is round, where as the newer style is flat.
You cannot install a new style bearing base gasket on a older style bearing base. You must replace the bearing base with the newer style. ( I believe the newer style is $40 something dollars.)
