No that stream is not from an RMS issue, i would guess coolant. That hose looks horrible. On another note, that bigger puddle on the right hand side of the 1st picture, that would be about where the RMS would leak. Don't know if that is a current puddle, or was there previously. Shoot a picture on the bottom of the engine, to the front of the oil pan right where the tranny and engine meet in the center of the car....then we can tell if the RMS is leaking.

Keep in mind this is a boxster, so the engine and tranny are flipped 180 degrees from a 996, but you can see where to look for oil. Right at the base of the engine where the tranny would bolt up is where you would notice drips and black sludge starting to build up.

Thanks guys I'm feeling alot better. The separate puddles are because I moved the car this morning...so it's the same leak. Yea i think it's the hose...it is pretty bad.

I'll take some more pics and post them in a minute.

Unfortunetly from what i can make of the pictures, it does look like the RMS seal is leaking pretty good.

Along with that coolant hose leaking. The hose is all of about 12 bucks. The RMS is all of about 17 bucks. The labor for the RMS seal really sucks. About 17 hours labor at a dealer. If you can find an independant shop, they might cut you a break. Porsche says you have to drop the engine and tranny together to do the seal, but we do them in a couple of hours with the engine in place and just pull the tranny (i make that sound easier than it is ).

Porsche Doc- Do you have your own shop? If Porsche only charged two hours for labor, I don't think there would have been so many RMS threads.

I guess i shouldn't have said a couple of hours, i didn't mean that literally, lol. We charge in the neighborhood of 9-10 on a carrera, which is still far less than the dealer. I work for Stephen at Imagine Auto.

it was no big deal for me. The dealer took care of it. Did not cost me anything but some time. They never had the car for more then a day until the engine swap. Took it in on a Monday got it back Wednesday.
