Default Help!

Okay, I'm trying to keep my cool here, but I'm really upset. Last night after I went to sleep in the small city where I grew up at my friend's house, somebody or somebodies decided the only thing they could do for fun last night was to take a knife blade and shred my convertible top to pieces.

To make a long story short, since all my cars are insured through my dealership, they arent covered for comprehensive or theft, and the bill for replacing the top will be mine. So what I need help with is what's the most intelligent/cost effective way to deal with this? A new top from Porsche is going to be insane, but they went through the headliner and the outside shell, and for some reason the top wont go down now, the light just flashes.

Any thoughts on why the top wont go down, and what I should do for a replacement?

Sucks to hear that Mark. Strange that your insurance company wont cover such incidents, I would look into another company to be insured by since I think that most company should cover this.

I know you don't like LA dismantlers but they sell tops for about 1000, which is okay I guess...or look on Ebay

I don't understand ******** who have to screw up other peoples properties.

fortunately/unfortunately here in BC we don't have private insurance, so that isn't really an option. Since I am a dealership, the insurance rates for comprehensive and theft are unbelievably high.

We use an independant top shop. Last time they did an 01 C2 for us, it was about 1800 bucks installed. Don't know where they sourced the top from, I am sure they have their sources, just as we do for porsche parts with places such as worldpac and ssfauto.

Ouch! That sucks dude. I hope you get it sorted out soon. I found an ad for these guys on Excellence Magazine -- they might be a good alternative for the OEM top. http://www.gahh.com/996-cabriolet-19..._339_2990.html

MArk - Man, that really sucks the big one! The pics are painful to see. The site that programmatore gave you looks promising. Hopefully, they will work out. Good luck and keep us posted.

I've been very discreet about my sexual adventures

Where the car was parked was not that far from some popular nightspots, I figure it was some kids on their way back from the bar.

Im really more nervous about why the top wont go down, it doesnt look like the rips would have hit anything crucial so that makes me wonder why it just blinks at me.

I don't think there is anything crucial where the cuts are...but I have a cab and it hurts seeing you stick your hand thru the cuts!!! Can't you take the roof for the time being from the inside.....and then open the roof and put on a hardtop..since it is winter where you live...so you can ebay for another top!

When I hit the button, it wont even put the windows down, it just blinks for as long as I hold the button down. It doesn't do anything. When the windows are down, hitting the up button doesnt put them up either.

Awful. But, on a slightly bright side, I was reading in Excellence, and the company that Prog recommended (Gahh) had an add for a retrofited soft-top with the all so-desirable glass rear window. Hey, hey, that could be pretty cool on a pre-2002 car....
