1999 996 C2 Value
What is a fair price for a '99 996 C2 with 50k miles? The car in question is a 2 owner, Silver with full Boxster Red leather interior; 17" rims with new tires; completely stock except for a Fabspeed exhaust (original included as well); no accidents; always dealer serviced; and never tracked.
Thanks for your opinions.

With that level of options and the mileage, you should be looking between $30K-$33K. I just bought a 1999 C2 with many more options from the factory and 30K miles for $34.5K in September, so they are out there.

Here's one for sale in our local area. The owner is active in the p-car crowd:

I have been debating selling mine. It has about 4 pages of mods done to it. I am thinking about 40k. I know it seems high but considering I factored the mods at 1/3 my cost not retail I think it's a pretty good deal. I would actually like to have people comment on what a fair value would be as I think I am selling it maybe a couple grand too cheap or too much.

Nice looking car...but I would be suprised if you sell it for $40K. With a modded car, you have to find that very select buyer who wants the same mods you have done and is willing to pay a premium for them. You'd be better off taking off the mods and selling them on ebay and listing the car for the market price (lower $30's).
Good luck...

I agree but I am in no rush. I am absolutely not interest in taking off the mods and selling them although I am well aware that it is usually a more profitable avenue. I drive the car daily so I like it as is and wouldn't change anything I have done to it. Further I have found with P cars the "selective buyer" is usually a much larger group than for other cars. Also the mods I have done are the most desireable and hence cater again to a larger audience.

There is also additional value to those looking for a car more truly a sports car that are the newer 996's. With RWD and LSD and the abilty to turn off traction control, the 99 C2 is the last porsche that has no computer controlling the way you drive. The more current models are full of crap that eliminates the need, as well as the abilility in some cases, to drive the car within the skill level of the driver. The additional weight in the new models are cool too. But, since there are so many poor drivers on the road that like to have more horsepower, it's the way of the future. I suspect, soon, all tracks will install rails to enable even the poorest of drivers to compete, safely.

Hey K964;
28k seems a bit much for a "Lexus" type Porsche who's value has dropped faster than when the Hindenberg fell from the sky. I'd shoot for the mid 20's to offset the embarrasement you'll experience when showing the 996 to friends.
Good Luck!
