Going on vacation........
...for about 3 weeks. I was wondering if the groups has any suggestions about my 02 996?
Do you guys think the car will be fine, or should I disconnect the battery to prevent draining? I don't drive the car every day, and it as sat for about a week before without any starting problems.
elfer
P.S. some punks ripped the hood emblem (crest) off my car There goes another $100! ARGHHHH!

if you have your own garage don't lock the doors! the alarm system shuts itself off after 5 days and some have reported problems getting started again.
my c4s sat for 27 days with no problems except i missed her! <img src="graemlins/crying.gif" border="0" alt="[crying]" /> it's nice to be back home <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" /> <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />

From the owners manual...
"Remote control standby switch-off after five days
If the car is not started or unlocked with the remote control within five days, the remote control standby function is switched off (to prevent discharging of the car battery).
In this case, the central locking has to be operated with the car key.
To a reactivate the remote control, the ignition has to be switched on once."
You will have to unlock the doors with the key (the remote will not work after 5-days).

Loren is correct. I have not driven my car sometimes more then 5 days and the key remote is disarmed. Using the key and operating the car reactivates the key remote.
When I went to Euro for 5 weeks last year I checked all fluids, inflated tires to max preasure, washed and waxed the car, parked on tire saver pads, covered it and it was ready for me when I got home. Check tire preasure before you drive it after vaca, these tire are deceiving, a visual may look like they are OK, but driving on a very low tire breaks down the side walls and they deemed unsafe if the inside ribbing is worn.

Use the battery maintainer that plugs into the lighter (Porsche item avail. at dealer or carnewal.com)
