Thumbs up Wheelers' day out..

So guys, here goes last weekend's story..

We got to gather ourselves, nine bikes ranging from 400 customs to the famed Yamaha's lustruous R1.. There were a couple of CBR's, a dirt (!) 644 Tractor, a nice 1100-Virage, GSXR 750, etc.. The M5 failed to show up even after having to wait over two hours at our meeting point.. The bugger will surely come next week! (this is a regular 525i in the pics)

Having really pushed the car to its limits this time, I was really able to keep up with the bikes allthe way thru *tx to Carlos for advices also*.

Of course there were a few stretches where the machines were taken to their upmost limits... The more exciting part was really the trip itself, ten super-machines, lights flooded up, just in the wildreness of Africa, stonning the locals who were delighted for us passing by, stopping, even glad for a handshake..

Enjoy the pics,,

Nice pics. I'd hate to hit a water buffalo at those speeds, though . I think I'm just jealous .

Water temp and oil pressure seem fine on the pics. But, you did not have your seat belt on !!! Tsk, tsk Looked like a lot of fun!!

Palting! I never take out my seat belt *for the other reason that the red dashlight disturbs me sooo much!* but if you're reffering to the pic no.16, i was still in the fuel station just entered my car.. That's my son taking the pic, i wouldnt leave him alone!!!

Actually i wanted to ask all listers, the oil pressure is showing 4.5psi and not 5psi at over 6,000rpms, is this normal? I just had the oil changed about 1000km ago.. Mobil-1.

Alright Wael!! Nice sticker on the rear window!!

Great photos, thanx for sharing!

Locals seem to be really friendly folks.

That R1 is IMHO the best looking sportbike on the market (although not the fastest )

Carlos,

See, i told you Marbella is a disease, and a great one too! Glad you like the sticker!

The R1 is really a respectable bike, i mean it doesnt shout out excpet thru its presence when you see it.. just like Star Wars' Darth Vader: he doesnt need to talk, just breathe to let you feel the terror inside! That's R1 for you! Atthough my son says it looks like a cricket!!!

They say it's the ultimate bike, i dunno y you disagree..

The R1 was the fastest until 2001, when the GSX-R1000 aperared in the scene. And the 2001 and the current 2002 GSX-R1000 absolutly dominates the sportbike category. In all the tests in track and in the streets the GSX-R1000 is the fastest. The biggest sportbike comparison is the MASTER BIKE organised by specialised magazines from 15 european countries in which they test in a track all the bikes under same conditions (tires, etc) and use 12 profesional pilots to test each bike. The winner of all the Hi-sport was the GSXR1000 in the 2001 event and now 2002 again, due to its better power & chasis. The less powerfull and heavier R1 was second, above the CBR900RR and ZX-9R.

The reason why I bought the Suzuki GSX-R1000 is solely because I wanted the absolute fastest bike out there, even though I think the R1 is still better looking.

In competiotion, the GSXR1000 also dominates, winning all the endurance championships this year. Next year the 1000cc bikes will also participate in SBK now (can't wait!)

But as if thats not enough, Sukuki, already dominating the category, will introduce in Febuary a faster yet 2003 GSX-R1000 with new chasis, more horsepower and even lighter!!
Thats why I'll probably be paying a visit to my dealer soon even though my bike is only 1 year old.
