Arrow differences between 1999 - 2001 996 cabriolet?

I'm in the market for a 996 c2 cabriolet w/ tiptronic. Specifically I thought the '99 - '01 would be in the right ballpark on price.

Upon test driving a 1999 model, I realized that the tiptronic does not have the "downshift while in drive" mode of the new "tiptronic /s". What year did "tiptronic/s" appear in the 996 c2 cab?

Also, can someone help me with the details of what other changes occurred in the 1999 to 2000 changeover and the 2000 to 2001 changeover? (or is there a faq available somewhere?). To keep matters focused, I'm specifically interested in the C2 Cab changes.

Thanks!!!

If you want a great deal of tech info of what changed from one model year to the next you should order the Porsche Technical Information Books for the years you are interested in. These are a technical summary of just the changes.

I think they run about $12.95 each and are available from My Porsche. The Technical Information Books are near the bottom of the page.

Welcome to the Rennlist "club", wantwindinhair...I know you can learn a lot on this forum.

Some obvious changes according to some car mags..

3.4L to 3.6L engine
"Turbo look" headlights
New bodywork reduces front lift by 25%.
New rear bumper reduces lift by 40%
Stock 17" wheels are 10 lbs lighter
Stock 18" wheels are 23 lbs.lighter
Torsional rigidity is improved by 10%
Passenger Side Glove Box
Cupholder
80% of engine internals were changed
HP 320 v 295
TQ 273 v about 250 something
Newer VarioCam Plus
Revised instrument cluster
Glass rear window
etc.
etc.

As Loren suggests, the tech book comparison is really what you need

Can't give you all the details of the changes made in 2001, but my C2 Cab, 2001 model year has the tip/s

Oops! I "read" it wrong. I thought he was trying to compare 99-01 with 02. Sorry...never mind!

Thanks all for the inputso far....here's what I've been able to learn from other sources:

2000 model upgrades
- tiptronic /S that allows downshift while in D mode
- "interior enhancements" (anyone have details?)

2001 model upgrades
- upgrade trunk carpet quality
- additional functions on key remote
- hood release color changed to black from chrome (the chrome on 99/00 scrapes easily)
- LED interior orientation lighting
