Post 996TT winter wheel, offset question...

Although this is mainly a 996TT question is also applies to 996C4S....

Porsche recommends 10j x18 47mm offset for the rear, and 8 x 18 offset 50mm for the front.

The "standard" Carrera II wheel is:

Front: 8 J x 18 (50)
Rear:10 J x 18 (65)

The Front is not a problrm, but which spacer should be use, if one can to make the rear work? Can someone explain "offset" and how to calculate when changing rim widths

(forgive my ignorance on the offset issue)

ALSO: I have 17" 996C4 wheels with winter tires ready to go, BUT Porshce does not recommend 17". I know there were posts on using the 17" but what exactly do I need to make them fit? 7 J x 17 (55) and 9 J x 17 (55).

IF anyone needs 17" winter wheels or tires let me know
