Question Laser diffuser?

Has anyone seen the laser diffuser (http://www.lidatek.com/specs.html) work against a lidar gun?

The police here in Spain is starting to purchase a lot of laser guns to complement the radars, so I need counter-meassures against the laser in the furture!

My father has already installed the Lidatek lasser diffuser but there are no lasers in this area yet to test it...

I was in the defense industry for a few years and as far as we know this is the only one of a couple of laser diffusers that work, Pricey but fast

I love your interior. I had a '99 with the wood, but not as much. I have, however, found other things to do with my car. The interior is plain, but the roll cage is a contrasting red as well as the seats.
Unfortunatly, if you want to avoid laser, flat, non reflective and sharp diffusing angles are the only things that sort of works. I say that, because where I worked we made the trainers for the pilots on how to avoid radar/laser threats. Laser was the most difficult.

I will probably follow your steps in my next 911 (997), I'll focus more on weight saving & power on the next one and less on interior options (besides the RoWM030, 18" wheels and aerokit)...you have to keep changing to try it all :-)

Getting back to the diffuser. It doesn't actually avoid/diffuse laser like fighterjets, rather it sends a stronger laser beam of the same frequency back to the laser gun when the diode detects the car is targeted therefore the cops laser gun is confused with the stronger beam and is unable to detect the cars speed through the reflections, and the cops gets an "error" message in the guns display.

Is there any documentation that can show through testing that diffusers actually work? Which diffuser is it that works the best?? How much do they cost??

Cameron, I know most of the first diffuser, the Lidatek Laser Echo (prevous LE850, now LE20 for 350$). I have read articles that tested it and it worked from 100 to 90% of the time, but no personal experience on testing... thats what I'm looking for.

There is another now from Bel (Bel LaserPro 904) but I'm not familiar with it nor read any tests of it ( <a href="http://www.radarexpress.com/beltronics_laser_pro_904.html" target="_blank">http://www.radarexpress.com/beltronics_laser_pro_904.html</a> ).

For more info go to their site <a href="http://www.lidatek.com/specs.html" target="_blank">http://www.lidatek.com/specs.html</a>

Do you know of an independent review of one of these toys.I dont want someone who is selling the stuff but someone who has actually tested it agains a laser gun (I dont trust the salesman). There doesnt seem to be any reviews that I can find on the net. It is theoretically possible for one of these to work by flooding Infrared. IF one works, I'm buying it. I got nailed with laser a couple of years ago.

Two I could find on the net currently:

This one is by UK speedtraps site (also take a look at their whole site, its amazing all the info!! they know their stuff...):

<a href="http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/lrc100.htm" target="_blank">http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/lrc100.htm</a>

and the previous model/version test:

<a href="http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/le850.htm" target="_blank">http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/le850.htm</a>

Here is one from the Speedbible site that contains a test from EVO Magazine on Laser Jammers.

<a href="http://www.speed-trap.co.uk/Avoid_Home/Avoid_Gadgets.htm" target="_blank">http://www.speed-trap.co.uk/Avoid_Home/Avoid_Gadgets.htm</a>

The current LCR100 and prevous model, the LE850 model, are the european model designation for the current US version, Lidatek LE20, and its previous model respectively.

Here is also speedtraps test of Bel's version laser jammer which also worked, especially on a 911! since this jammer comes with rear protection besides front, but while front worked well, rear didn't work for all types of cars, I quote: "The conclusion so far, if you have a smallish car or low slung sports car then the rear unit should be okay.
The Porsche 911 test car with the rear unit fitted had no problem in jamming from the rear,
larger vehicles however may not be protected as well."

<a href="http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/bel904.htm" target="_blank">http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/bel904.htm</a>

Getting one Tom?

Carlos
I am thinking about it, but here in New York they can give you a ticket just for suspecting or estimating (Guestimating)how fast you are going. The State police are the only ones with Laser at this time, and they just happened to be the nastiest cops I ever met. When those guys find out I'm jamming the signal while driving a Porsche on their precious highway, they will probably trow the book at me.

Damn, just from a guesstimate of the speed?? That would be ilegal here, but I guess they could book you for dangerous driving, though that would be overthrown in court. I just passed the police in the highway at 15mph over the limit since they had no radar (according to my detector) they didn't stop me because of that <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Recently installed the Bel 904 on my 02 C2. Picked it because it has front and rear units. Have encountered "traps" since installation.

Hi pedsurg,

Welcome to Rennlist

Let us know when you encounter a laser trap and how the laser jammer worked. Where did you place the two front transponders?
