Post Valentine One / Windshield Mount

Has anyone had any problems using their Valentine One's with the windshield mount? I've been told that some earlier Porsches had a film on the inside windshield that was discolored if the suction cup mount was used. I've just been clipping mine to the visor. Thanks.

I have had no problems. Just sticking up to the right of the rear view mirror at the very top of the windshield. But only when I am not in Virginia

You definitely want it on the glass, not the visor. If you have trouble, clean the glass using a vinegar solution (might have an odor) and let dry.

Then go over it with Invisible Glass (Stoner) or similar glass cleaner if you need to, and after drying, mount suction cups.

Be absolutely sure the detector is NOT in the tinted section of the upper glass - this will diminish the detection capability.

Has anyone wired up the V1 to a 12V source around the rearview mirror interior lights? Any suggestions?

Mark: Check out this site for some info on wiring up the V-1 to a switched circuit. Ignore the info on the V1 unit placement, as that's unique to the Boxster. I used this factory phone power source in the console area for my hook-up. Hope this helps. V1 Install

I had no problems with mounting the Valentine on the windshield in either my '99 996 or the '02 996. Just make sure it is high enough so that it can get a reading out the rear glass.
