Post Squeek in 1st Gear - don,t laugh pls...

Hi all,
when I pull away in 1st gear lately, I hear squeeks from the rear near the engine area. Any ideas?

Also, both windows squeek when lowring or closing. Any workarounds?

TIA

I also hear a low pitched squeak when shifting from 1st to 2nd after a complete stop. Sound comes from right rear side of car and is very sporadic.

I have an '02 cab and I've noticed that after I put the hardtop on for the winter I get a "clunk" at low speeds on city streets that are less than completely smooth. The noise disappears at highway speeds. I then noticed that the soft top does not sit completely flat in the retracted position and that a slight "play" between the leading edge of the top and what is beneath it and I think the top is just bouncing a bit on rough surfaces before I get up to speed. I did not experience this at all on my '99 cab.

Hope this helps

Was there ever any discussion on this "Squeak in first gear?" I have recently noticed a short squeak or squeal in first gear when pulling away from a stop (while accelerating after the clutch is fully disengaged) - I only notice it when the engine is cold and I am leaving work.

The window seals just need to be lubed to get rid of 'that' problem. Try some plumber's grease or Wurth's grease spray on the rubber grommets around the window.

As to your first gear squeak, I have no idea.

I think I'm getting the same thing. I have a 2000 cab, and the other day it started a high-pitched squeek at low speeds. I can't tell where it's coming from. It happens when the brakes are completely disengaged and I made sure the parking brake isn't on. I'm not sure what it is. It even squeeks when I'm moving extremely slowly right before a stop. Any thoughts?

If you wax your windows the squeek goes away.
