Default 40th anniversary model & modifications

Just curious, can all the same aftermarket modifications fit on a 40th anniversary 996? By this I mean, exhaust, suspension, kits, suspensions, intake, engine software?

I ask because all of the parts mentioned above are different or tweaked on the anniversary edition.

There should be no reason why the 40th couldn't be modified as you have stated. I don't know of anyone with the X-51 option who has done additional engine work. I have PSS9's on mine and they are well worth the expense.

I have the Evom cold air intake, Fabspeed pipes and had not fitting issues.Sport suspension is next. earlyapex, what swayed you toward PSS9 Vs X-74 ? Anything beside the adjustability ? Do you have sway bars as well ?

Sportster - I installed the B&M SS kit and REALLY like it. If you decide to install this (or the OEM SS kit) PM me and I will give you a great tip on how to remove the shifter **** to avoid smacking yourself in the face or knocking your teeth out (seriously)! Two or three other guys on the forum used my method and they really liked it.

What is the HP/torque of a 40th? For the record, what has been changed vs standard?

Here's a summary list of the mods on the 40th:

• Intake air manifold (in cast aluminium) with modified cross section
• Adapted intake manifold pipes
• Exhaust manifold with larger cross section and optimized flow characteristics
• Cylinder heads with optimized inlet ports to eliminate any existing interferrance edges.
This results in an even more uniform distribution of the mixture to the individual
cylinders.
• Camshafts with greater valve stroke on inlet side and modified inlet/exhaust
valve timing
• Inlet valve springs adapted to increased valve stroke
• Modified bulkhead box in oil pan to ensure a reliable oil supply at the higher cornering speeds.
• Additional oil scavenge pump (3 total).
• Modified map for the ME 7.8 Motronic control unit (DME)
• Polished exhaust tailpipes
• The standard G96/01 transmission with limited-slip differential is fitted.
• For additional cooling the radiators for the Turbo model are fitted.

Engine data at a glance:

Displacement 3596 cm3
Bore 96 mm Stroke 82.8 mm
Max. torque 370 Nm @ 4800 rpm
Power output 254 kW (345 HP) @ 6800 rpm
Compression ratio 11.3 : 1
Engine type M96/03 S
Governed speed 7300 rpm

Cheers.

mbergeron,

I wanted to be able to customize my alignment to my driving tastes and needs. The PSS9's are a great performance/comfort compromise. The only issue that I have had was that the front helper spring perch rubbed the inner lip of a set of BBS wheels that I had last year. This was cured by getting rid of the front helper springs and tying the main spring so it didn't drop when the car was lifted.

I haven't touched the car's intake, shifter, or exhaust. I personally don't like the feel of most short shifters and don't need another loud car. I have a 78 SC track car that is sucking up most of my free cash.

Thanks for the update...do you think the PSS9 would have the same rubbing issue with the standard wheels ?
Would you happen to have a picture of the car weith the BBS wheels..it's something I'm considering but would hate to spend that money and not like the look...

Got one # 1440 or is it #1443...gotta look again.
Only two features keeps it from being THE available dream car:
Sits too high, need to be lowered...easily fixed.
Narrow body...would have look awesome in a bigger butt.
Other than that, and I'm being very picky, it's fantastic.

Sportster: Glad I was able to give you more info on your car. It is a wonderful package IMHO. The only serious upgrade I've done to the car has been sending its driver to the Porsche Driving Experience

Mine is #1034. LiveNupe, Mbergeron and Earlyapex on this thread have 40th's as well.

Enjoy your awesome car!
