Default Xenon Upgrade

Just bot a 99 C2 996
Looking to upgrade my stock headlights for porsche OEM Xenon's.

Have the original headlights with ugly orange marker lights in my car.
Any tricks to installing the Litronics/Xenons?
Is it plug and play? Or are there mods required.

Default Not plug and play. Entire light harness needs swapped.

You can do the aftermarket upgrade from Vertex. It is relatively inexpensive and works great. I have a set on my 99'

IT IS PLUG AND PLAY! I did the upgrade on my 2000 several years ago and the factory litronics are fantastic.

Default You just slid the non-litronics out and slid the litronics in?

I am fairly sure that there is a wiring harness that needs installed also. I did this on my MY98 Boxster, but went with the Vertex kit on the 996. I think the Vertex kit works just as well as the litronics did. JMHO.

No wiring harness needed...it is direct plug and play. Now if you want the "tilt" feature, then you need to install an additional harness. But as for the litronic setup itself, slide out the old assembly and insert the new litronic assembly.

000 044 900 38 is the headlight control unit (should you want it) I didn't install it and gave it to another member when I did my upgrade since I bought my litronics new it came with it.

In considering the Litronic upgrade, be sure you understand the terms involved. The leveling feature as referred to in the owners manual is not available even if you do install the harness as part of the upgrade.

However, the tilt up feature .... that is, having the xenon low beams tilt up to add to the halogen high beams when high beam is selected .... IS available IF the harness is installed. I find this a great feature on dark, twisty roads, as the high beam in the litronic unit is just a simple halogen bulb.

The harness installation was not complicated, took about an hour start to finish, and went exactly according to the directions and DIY info available in a number of web sources.
