Had a '99 cab that I took delivery on in Oct. '98 and had 55k mi. when I sold it in Oct. 2001. Replaced rear tires at 30k mi, front at 40k. No major problems other than the well known minor warranty issues. Now have '02 cab with almost 11k mi. since Oct. 2001. No mechanical problems except for a very squeaky convertible top that dealer fixed. Rear tires (Conti Sport 2) do not look like they'll get more than 15k mi.

2000 MY 996 Coupe. Delivered May 2000. 11,300 street miles. Took the car in at 10,000 miles to get the 15,000 mile service. The service guy told me I didn't need that and recommended some minor service where they just checked the car and changed the oil. I'll probably take the car in again at 15,000.
Many people I have talked to say that with the synthetic oil, there is no need to do an oil change every 5k.
I'm looking forward to buying a new set of wheels and tires, but tires still look fine.
Anyone have any recommendations on wheels?

2002 C4S, Feb delivery, 3600 miles. Aside from a low power steering fluid level missed by the dealer (and me) during pre-delivery inspection, the car has been bullet-proof. Not much help here. Thanks for posting this topic, though. Big help for my future needs.

4400 miles with absolutely no problems! best car i have ever owned--excellent fit and finish. psm virtually never comes on except in extreme conditions.
my only concern is that only 2 tires are made in sizes appropriate to the turbo and c4s pzero assyms and conti 2's. i wish the bridgestone so3's came larger for better wet traction. i would appreciate any suggestions. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

29000 miles. rear tires replaced at around 13000 miles due to bad alignment. Car came with conti's. they are noisy, I will not use them again. uses vertually no oil between changes which I now do every 10k miles, (every 5k for the first 20k miles) Had a radial fracture in the wood grain on the 3 spoke steering wheel. Porsche replaced under warranty. ragtop makes a clacking noise when it is cold out, until the car warms up. otherwise she is a dream.
