Looks like my driveway.
I've got to pieces of 3/8" aluminum plate about 50 inches long with a "support"(brick) under the middle of both. If you got maybe 5/8" you might not need the support.

Cool Precast Concrete Ramp

Yves,

My suggestion looking at your driveway, would be precast concrete ramps. Like an upside down triangle with a through hole in the bottom to let water pass through.

Carrera Mike- My driveway is much like the one that toolpants posted only twice as long!!! I've been kicking around ideas in my head (I have an RS body kit I'm dying to put on but can't untill I solve the driveway problem) but I like your thought. How would you go about "casting" that?

Cool

Yves & Mac 993,

The one that Tool Pants posted would be a challenge because of the city required side walk in the middle. Can't mess with that because of the "dissabled access law". But it some instance like my driveway pictured below, since the sidewalk is already same level as my driveway, I can put these precast concrete over the city curb drain. My car is lowered 1.25 inch from the U.S. Standard and about 0.7 inch before the GT3 ground clearance and my front spoiler DO scrape the road if I drive out straight!

But looking at Yves driveway photo...

I'm sure a concrete contractor would be happy to make them for you. My suggestion is just to have a pair made on the side of the drive way where you need them. Although of course you could have the entire width of the drive way done. I'll have them made as "precast", where they measure the drive way angle and deliver them made. The pair would be more moveable(although heavy) in case the city have a cow(problem), which I really doubt.

Looking at that picture again, this is your entire driveway. You're not even going to mess with the city street property, You could definitely have the entire width with those precast or permanent pour done then. I would keep a hole that goes through in the bottom 'cause it looks like they angled your approach to drain the other side of your lot when its raining.

Happened on day 1 with my C4S. I found that by backing the car in ever so slowly, and fronting out the same way -- on a 30 degree angle, I can completely avoid the scrape. Plywood boards are another approach others have used successfully. If I needed to go that route each time I wanted to use the car, I would have the driveway entry redone.

The picture was taken during my first month of ownership.
The car has had clear markers for the past 4 months.
Thanks for the reminder though, would indeed have been the ultimate sin !

Now I just tell myself that when I move to another spot, I will replace the current lip with the supercup lip. That will solve the problem.

Cement is very cheap, you could have someone frame the area, pour the cement, and do the finishing for under $700. It will be worth it depending on how much longer you intend to live in the property?

Good luck on the search for a new property. I know how that scraping noise must drive you up the wall! I suppose your current solution using plywood is the best for now, how about buying extra plywood until the scraping noise goes away...

well look at what contractors do when they have a high curb and the need to get equipment, say a bobcat, up the curb.
they put down some two by fours and build up a bit of a ramp sort of thing -
All you need to do is get something to build it up a little, and support it. Think about building a bike jump - I'm a mountain biker who dirtjumps, we build dirt ramps on top of anything, old tires, old logs, rocks, etc... There's lots of options for making that angle less prominent - i'm not suggesting taking a mountain biker backwoods route at it, but I'm saying that something like fibreboard will do just fine - eventually begin to rot, perhaps, but not that bad.
