Post PCM2 and TMC in the UK - anyone using it ?

The PCM2 technical spec states that it is TMC capable. I also understand that in the UK, Classic FM broadcasts TMC information for automatic journey re-routing.

BMW states that its 7 series is the first vehicle in the UK to support Sat Nav with TMC.

Does anybody know what's needed to enable this capability on Porsches ? New discs ?

Any advice/comments appreciated

Hi Greg,

Did you make any progress with this? I too have PCM2 and would like to be able to get access to TMC information etc.

It's clear that PCM2 is designed to be able to cope with this information, but it seems that Porsche GB hasn't done what it needs to in order to make this work in the UK (where TMC is available). Other manufacturers have. As you say, BMW has, but so have Toyota, Vauxhall, and Ferrari as well as after-market GPS sat nav suppliers.

I think the next step is to contact my Porsche dealer. I would have thought this post might have stirred up a bit more interest in the UK amongst owners, since what TMC threatens to offer would be great (if it indeed works !)

Let us know how you get on. I've had no luck so far with my attempts to get information in regard of Porsche and TMC in the UK. What I've done so far is:

I e-mailed iTIS holdings, the people who seem to be the people who run TMC in the UK.

<a href="http://www.itisholdings.com/" target="_blank">http://www.itisholdings.com/</a>

But the e-mail bounced. They seem a bit odd - lots of bizarre things about their web-site that don't work properly.

I also e-mailed Navtech

<a href="http://www.navtech.com/" target="_blank">http://www.navtech.com/</a>

I've yet to hear back from them.

I've searched, without success, for a relevant e-mail address to contact Porsche Cars (Great Britain), whose website is at:

<a href="http://www.uk.porsche.com/english/gbr/company/pcgbltd/default.htm" target="_blank">http://www.uk.porsche.com/english/gbr/company/pcgbltd/default.htm</a>

I tried at my dealer where the service department told it me it should work as the signal comes from the satellite - I concluded at this point they werent to 'au fait' with the way PCM works (!!?) so following Si C4S mail above I managed to contact ITIS and have been told they are-

"in discussions with Porsche regarding implementing TMC on their navigation product range which is predominantly supplied by Becker" - "you will need to purchase a new navigation disk for the system when TMC becomes available"

Ive asked for some clarification on timelines...

Thanks for that Tom.

Sounds like we shouldn't hold our breath . . . . .

I've just been having a look through the cd's that came with my Cayenne PCM11 and they include all language incl English to support TCM messages.
Cayenne went back to dealer but CD copies stayed (swoped it for a 996 C2 Cab and no regrets!!
