Spoke to a buddy who is a mechanic (for BMW), and he said that this type of thing is common.

Riad, that's impossible. It was 'anti-freeze'.

I am surprised that the coolant tank is not covered. My dealer did it for me, and they even charged it to warranty. I have the invoice from the dealer.

You should have said: "Stupid woman! That's the Porsche Automatic Garage Washing System cleaning the floor, like it supposed to!"

I had to replace the coolant tank on my CPO car. Not covered. Not good-willed by the dealer either.

I replaced mine DIY. About 3 hr job. $275 or so in parts and coolant.

BTW, both the coolant tank and the washer fluid reservoir on my 98 Boxster cracked.

This is a common problem.

When a dealer "goodwills" a repair, it will show on your invoice as "warranty".

Bob, Porsche doesn't really make/manufacture anything. Like most automakers, they are largely an assembly shop. That plastic container was probably made in China.

Kevin - who is your dealer? I had the 15k service done instead of just PPI before buying at Jim Ellis, although I bought the car elsewhere.

lvdell,

well if you do insist.. charging $400 for a plastic container seems ridiculously overpriced if made in germany... now if it's made in china, then it's even more ridiculous!! well you did ask for it

Maybe it's designed by the same people who designed the RMS seal

I bought my CPO '99 Cab at Hennessy,
buy small parts at Ellis, expensive parts online,
do regular maintenance and all mods myself,
use Hennessy for maintenance I can't DIY.
