Post Shelf Under Dash, Removal?????????

When I bought the car, the salesman said the little shelf under the dash could be used for the owner's manual. Unfortunately, the whole folder will not fit. Want it outta there. Looked at the two mounting fasteners with a mirror and first thought was that they are allen head screws. But could get nothing to engage them. What is the secret to removing the little shelf that does nothing but encroach on legroom?

Gramps,
From posts on funcarsonline, I think they are rivets that must be drilled out. Eric 'The plug guy' at bumperplugs.com was trying to develop plugs for the holes that remain. Don't know if he has yet. Good luck. Agree that it's a useless little shelf if it's any consolation!

They are infact rivets, though - like most other items in this incredibly engineered machine, they just pop out. It takes a little force, but it does come out. No drilling or screwing necessary. Hey, after all that work, try on of these <img src="graemlins/drink.gif" border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" />
