Post Not that I am a smoker you understand.........

I replaced the cigarette lighter after taking out my radar/detector and pushed it in just to check it was working. Its not! And now the lighter is stuck in and wont pop out. Its not warm either so the element isnt hot and, I presume, this means the contacts are not making. I figure I must have damaged the receptacle plugging and unplugging portable appliances.

Any ideas how I get the lighter out without damaging anything? Anyone experienced this problem before?

Thanks <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Simple - REPLACE THE FUSE!

Check the fuse panel for the lighter - it's probably blown out. Put a new fuse in, the ligher will come on and will pop when it heats up.

Thanks Eric. Now I can take up smoking!

In my defence... I had checked the fuse already but had not noticed there is an alternative fuse position (European option only?) and, of course, it was the alternative fuse which had blown!

Thanks again. <img src="graemlins/drink.gif" border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" />

Wow. I was about to post that you can try spinning the lighter or pushing it in manually to get the contacts together. You see, this has happened to me, and that's what I did. It worked, but the lighter will still intermitently not work. Guess I'll check for ALL the fuses.
