C4S finally home!
Well, after an arduous journey, the C4S finally hit my driveway on Thursday. I've hardly been out of it since, and was planning a wash/wax and photo shoot, but we're foiled by the weather today!
Anyway, for those interested in such things, here are some first impressions:
1) I'm coming over from a 1994 964 Cab, and the driving experience is incredibly different and remarkably familiar. I don't know how they did it, but they did. I feel completly at home behind the wheel.
2) This thing is FAST. I love the kick in second gear that you get when you wind out the 964, but you get that same kick in the 996 in THIRD, and when you look down, you're going 90!
3) Steering - absolutely phenomenal - I can't believe how it tracks, and how tight it feels. Wow.
4) Ride - pretty choppy, but in a good way. You have the sense that you're driving a race car slightly de-tuned for the street. If I'd wanted a Lexus, I would have bought a Lexus.
5) Aesthetics - wow, this thing is so unbelievably gorgeous. They nailed it with the C4S - proportions are perfect, and it looks mean. It also sits in marked contrast to EVERYTHING else around it. I'm going to have to get used to this one, it feels a bit wierd to stick out like a sore thumb. Porsches are a dime a dozen in Southern Cal, but there's still 10,000 everything else compared to the Porsche.
6) Interior - I watched with interest this weeks thread on full leather dash, and one of the complaints on the 996 has been the poor quality materials. Not in this car, it looks first class.
So, we're starting off good - car is perfect, still smells new, and looks fantastic.

Congratulations Rick - I know exactly where you're coming from with my new '04. Your car looks great. This is my first Porsche and the taut ride really surprised me - the thing tracks like it's on rails. And fast, VERY! Happy New Year - enjoy.

She looks amazing!!! You are right. Porsche did nail it with the C4S. In my opinion the C4S looks like what all 996s should look like. I really like how the red from the tailights wrap all the way around the back of the car like the older modles. And of course they have hips.... got have that big rear end!
