Post GT3 availability in US?

Spoke with my dealer last night about GT3 availability. He is a reasonably good size dealer in the NE. He thought that the GT3 (in the US) would be in fairly limited supply. In fact, he thought my order would be the only GT3 he could get. I was under the impression, Porsche would make the GT3 readily available. What are others finding/ hearing?

Laurence, Guesstimets have been all over the place form 600-1800, however that may be for MY'03 alone. FWIW the latest Christophours articule says they'll " be in dealer showrooms this May. And my dealer said they may be taking orders by the end of the month.
Good luck

Taking orders by the end of the month?
Are you insane? They started taking deposits last month.
If you dont have money down now for a GT3, your not getting one.
Your dealer is letting you down easy. My dealer is only getting 2, and my name is on the first one.

It will be a very very rare car. Period.
I put my name on the list last year when a Car and Driver article reported that a GT3 was coming for 2003.

No of course I wouldn't pay $140,000. But who is paying $140,000?

Sure people have been getting on lists for months or even years but no one has actually ordered a car. Why? First, there is no order guide available, so no one knows pricing or options available (other than the base price). Second, the factory isn't accepting any GT3 orders yet, so your dealer can't get an order into the system.

There are people out there who are #6 on the list and with the limited build, these people aren't likely to get cars unless a lot of people in front of them drop out.

So getting on the list and ordering are two very different things.

Karl S, your summed it up correctly.
RR, I should have said something more datailed like... Yes I have 2- deposits @ 2 different dealers likly to get allocations of 2-4(maybe) ea. These were done in late summer, 1- is #3 and this dealer's the one who mentioned that I may be able to come in as earlier as the end of this month to sit down & use an "order guide" book and order it! And since Christophorus said they would be in dealer showrooms in the month of May, an order placed by the end of Feb would take the better part of a month to build, another month shipping, Anyway, I like to think the timing for May is relativly soon.
Finally, FWIW the other slott gives me #4 @ MSRP (in writing) Who really knows, it's part of the torture for our P-cars. We should all be so lucky.
And my '02 C2 is going to be up For Sale, as a GT-3 or a 2nd home in Fla. in in the works!
Good luck to all

I'll believe the prices when I see the orders. I am sure some will go out the door at $87k, but many will be $100-$140. It will all depend on what you actually get for $87. My car has a base of $68 and was $117 with options.

Well at Porsche's published MSRP of $ 99,900.
What options might we have/cost available?
Special order paint? Inside/Outside
Cerramic Brakes? (Biggy $$)
Carbon Fibery Stuff?
"Limited" numbers $$$?
Come on help me! What else can our dealers come up with? <img border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" title="" src="graemlins/cussing.gif" />

No doubt some dealers will order their GT3 cars with pin-striping($3000), "special" chrome wheels($9000), cell phone, wood veneer interior($4000) and tinted windows($6000)...
