Default Top Gear

Hey, what has happened to TOP GEAR? Discovery channel used to air it but I cant find it anywhere on the channel guide now? Is it no longer being aired in the states? If so that is horrible news, what a great show!!! Fifth gear is still on the Speed Channel but they all seem to be reruns!

Any know if these shows are still stateside?

Do a search. This was discussed recently ad nauseum. We sure do miss it and there was a link in one of the recent threads to complain to Discovery execs. Coochas over on the 997 forum has posted a lot of vids to his site.

The episodes on the Discover channel are complete and utter CRAP!!!!!!!!!!

They edit out everything good and it makes me angry just to watch it. I download all the real shows after they air on BBC2 online from www.mininova.org where they are hosted. I have pretty much every episode from the last 4 years, plus all of the stuff from 1989, 1990, and 1991. If you are looking for a speicific clip or show, let me know, and we'll figure out a way to get it to you. Drop me an e-mail @ sam@djgateway.com

Please of please, don't waste your time watching that $hit on Discovery though. You'll see what I mean after you see a real episode.

Yeh, I would, except I'd have to pay like 3 $hitloads to host them all, and have enough bandwidth for reasonable download speeds. Plus, anyone with any bit-torrant softwear can get them from www.mininova.org anyways. My point is, just don't watch Discovery, get the real deal.

Wow, that would be great. I downloaded one episode through that website, but when I try to play it, Media Player says error retriving codec and I only get sound. Have you run across this before?

Yes, what you need to do is search google for something called the K-Lite Codec Pack. Once you have that downloaded and installed, you should be all set!!

This seems so cool but I can't figure it out. What am I doing wrong? I downloaded first the basic then standard K-Lite Codec Pack...searched the site for Top Gear 2005, downloaded a video but then windows keeps asking me what program I want to use to open it once it's downloaded. If I choose windows media player it won't work.

Arlight, you searched mininova.org for clips? But you need a program like ABC, or some type or torrant downloader to get those files. Once you have them in .mpg or .avi or .mov or .wmv. or whatever, then you can use a program like Windows Media Player or Winamp to view the files. You will of course, need the proper codec's.

Does that help?

to download uTorrant. Just look for the link when you find an episode to download. Its listed under "Download Client"

But don't feel bad, it does seem a bit tricky.

I was able to download the most recent episode, but downloading earlier ones does not seem to be going so well.

I use the Azureus bittorrent client and it works quite well. BitTorrent is a tad confusing the first time around but once you figure it out its cake.

Yeah, the internet is great, I watch fifth gear and top gear every week a day after it airs in the UK.
