I just purchased an 01 996 cab and have two questions . 1) Should I store the car for winter with the hardtop on or with the cab top raised ? 2) Who makes the best hoist sytem for garage storage of the hardtop?

I couldn't find anything in the manual, but I am storing in unheated garage (doesn't get below 40F with soft top up. I just figure leaving the top all folded during winter is not a good idea. Just my .02 Don Watson 02 C4 Cab

I had a '99 C2 cab with the plastic rear window that I used as a daily driver. I kept the hardtop on from end of Nov. thru end of March with no ill effects on the soft top. I would recommend putting a towel inside the folds of the plastic rear window if you are storing it for any length of time to prevent creases from forming. This is not an issue with the '02 cabs which now have a glass rear window

If you are simply storing the car, then no question about it, just store it with the convertible top raised.
The hardtop is great in the winter but I just took mine off again as I was missing the freedom to open up for the sun. Also, you need to be really careful to avoid creasing the roof/window - even in a month or so I noticed that there was some deformation forming on the plastic - I should have used a towel.
The hardtop really is great though at keeping the weather out and for those long, long winter commutes.

The minor deformation of my rear window has gone after about a week with the soft-top back in use. I suspect that a bit of heat & humidity plus being stretched out naturally all contribute to the soft creases dropping out.
