Question Experience with Potenza S03 Pole Position Tires?

Time to replace my Asimms and do not want to buy Pirelli again. Was going to go with Pilot Sports, but the S03 was rated higher on Tirerack and is cheaper. Also, the 265/30/18 is listed as closeout, so I wouldn't want to be stuck without a replacement in case of a blowout.

Don,

I've only got about 2500 miles on mine and I think they are great. Better than Pilot Sports and Contis for sure. The Pilot Sports make too much noise for me (squeal) and don't grip as well as the SO3's. The Contis are not even in the same class.

I went with 285/30 x 18 rears (see below) and changed my front rims to 8 inch. The car handles very well now and very predictable (for my driving style).

Loren,

I had the S02, but they didn't gave any warning on when they would loose the grip. Is this better on the SO3 ?
I have the Conti Contact2 now and they have almost no grip.

Seems to me that the S03 has much better stick to start with. I think they are predictable when they let loose. No spins... yet At least I feel I know when they are about to go. With the Conti's I could spin turning into a parking lot too fast!

I have S03's. They are really a great tire and for the money buy them. They are much better than the Conti's.

I just put on a set last Fri. They ride nice on the road. I drove to a DE where I used up what was left of my Hoosiers...So I used the new tires.
For a few sessions.

They held up ok in the turns for about 4 laps then went away. Also under hard brake the slip a A LOT. Maybe I'm spoiled..but I expected better brake hold under load. So beware they turn nice....hope you don't have to stop too fast

Thumbs up

S03s are great tires, probably what's going to replace my sh!tty Falkens this summer on the SC. My only advice is that you change all 4 tires, i had an almost bad experience with new S03s on the front and S02s on the back of my friends 300Z....lets just say the fronts stuck but the backs didn't .

later,

amir
