Post Grease marks on cab windows...

I think I saw a post on this problem somewhere on this list in the past but I can't seem to bring it up.

I have small round grease spots on the upper rear section of my drivers and passenger side windows. I think they are caused by pads inside the doors getting soiled. I have asked my dealer to take care of them twice but to no avail. They supposedly tried to clean them up but I don't think they touched them at all. My service adviser says they need to be greased up for them to work. However the grease marks look really nasty and I want to get rid of them.

Anyone know what the story is with these? Is there a TSB on them?

This is a common problem on Porsche windows. There are felt pads and if they get dirty, the'll leave those smear marks. Had this problem on both my Carreras, and the dealer replaced the pads (don't let them try to clean them--it's only a temporary solution). And they don't need to be greased up to work!!! Try another dealer.

I have the same problem. Little round grease spot in the upper right corner. Drives me nuts.

Yeah, I've noticed that too. The first time I saw a grease spot like that I thought some kid left a nose print on my window while checking things out.

Should this be a warranty repair item?

Seems like a lot of work just to change a pad. Maybe that's why a dealer would poo-poo your request to have it taken care of.

Me lucky, got demi-smear. My dealer better not poo-poo any part of my P-P-car, not for 85 large.
