Oh my gosh Don!! That's an amazing capture of the 360. Love the midnight blue. Can't believe it looks so striking even "just sitting" there.

One of these days...

Whose is it. A friend's?

Regards.

It's "Tour de France Blue", and it certainly is not mine. Belongs to an acquaintance of mine.

No doubt that is an awesome car. Personally, if I could swing it, I'd buy the 911 turbo with full aerokit instead. The turbo is more reliable, easier to drive daily, a tad more low key and gives you 2+2 to boot. If I were to buy a ferrari, it would more likely be a spider for weekend good weather use only.

That being said, I would never decline the opportunity to drive a 360 modena if the opportunity presented itself.

Gosh! That is one beeeyooteeeful automobile! I would own one in an instant if I wasn't so completely frightened by the overall maintenance costs and potential downtime.

Hey!
Great looking, great performance, RARE, terrible to service, questionable reliability, but PUS_Y machine(if thats what your looking for).

If it was my "dime" and was looking to get an outragously impractical car, I'd drop another 50k and get the Lamborghini Murcilego!!! Like the Hardee's commercial says, "GO ALL OUT!"

If I was to spend that kind of money on a car, I would feel better owning a new GT2, versus a Ferrari.

Cheers,

That is indeed a beautiful car. Unfortunately the dealers will no longer accept deposits on 360's. The wait is somewhere around 4-5 years. Don, I don't doubt you when you say that car is TDF blue, but in person it is much lighter and more metallic. The pic looks like a sera blue (closer to midnight) IMHO, thae TFD car with a saddle interior is the most beautiful car made today.
While cars are available on the aftermarket for arounf $160 K for the coupe, virtually all are with the F-1 trans. Although it may work well for the track, it's a shame to give up the 6 speed, as ferrari finally got the 6 speed right this time.
check out this for all the colors.

The 360's are supposed to be quite reliable. Sadly, there is still a $8k service every 15,000 miles to remove the engine and replace the timing belt. <img src="graemlins/crying.gif" border="0" alt="[crying]" />

Yes, the 360 is very reliable but the timing belt is to be replaced every 30k miles. Also, the engine does not need to be removed because the belt can be accessed through the firewall. The 15k mile service should cost $2k or less depending on who does the work.

Isn't it also true that the factory recommended interval is actually longer than 30k miles, but paranoid owners have built up an "urban legend" of 30k miles?

i don't think it's so much af a "paranoid urban legend" as it is preventative maint. VW says to change the timing belt overy 90k, most owners do it at 60k. on my 928 it's 60k i believe, most people do it at 30k. you have to take age into consideration too. it costs a *lot* less to change the belt early than fix the car after it breaks.

$1200 to do the belt every few years or $5k+ to fix the engine...

360 F1 tranny has problems with throw out bearing but it's easily fixed.

I am not so sure the engine stays in during belt change. I know the engine must be dropped on all the V12s and the 348 & 355. I suspect this may be the case on the 360.

If I wanted to shell out that much dough, then the maintenance wouldn't be a problem. But as said in Forrest Gump: a man only needs so much money to enjoy life; the rest is for showing off.

I saw a gorgeous black 360 spider with a guy and, of course, a hot blonde on the way home from work today. Not too many cars humble a C4S.
