Angry Clearcoat scratch

I was cleaning off some bird crap--carefully I thought--but found that I scratched the clearcoat on my black '99 C2 Cab. I've tried some Meguiars polish (numbers and 1 and 2) along with a random orbital machine hoping to make this very light scratch disappear. Alas, no joy. This is not a scratch you can feel with your fingernail or anything like that. Seemingly, it's just a surface scratch but I can't seem to polish it out. Does anyone have any experience in taking out light scratches in Porsche clearcoat?

Thanks, I'll give 3M a try. By the way, the polish I used was Griot's #1 and #2, not Meguiars. I didn't use the #3 because it sounded like it might be too strong.

I think youve got the right products but you havent put enough effort in it. Try using more of your material and polishing on it as long as it takes to see the scratches start disapearing. Keep at it. It wont be easy to polish them out. You can keep the pad and material wet by sprinkling with some water as you go. It will take some effort.

You could also try some rubbing compound....that is sure to do the trick.

If you use rubbing compound, you better be real careful. Otherwise an inexperienced persson can make it look worse.

I'm friends with a detailing guy and any time I get a scratch on my car, he takes it out for me. Normally he charges me $20 for his efforts. Anyone who has a black car that he wants to keep looking like new should become friends with some detailer.
