Red face C4S - Brake Disc

I have a problem in the brake discs, do no how serious the problem is, but when I wash the car and I leave it parked for a week or so without movement, the brake discs get some rust on the surface. Is there a certain way to remove it, or even avoid having it. Moreover how bad would be the condition of the tyres if the car is parked for long terms like one week without movement and what would be a good solution to avoid tyre damage knowing that I can't drive the car on daily basis for the nature of my work.

Thanks
Fadi

Fadi : Welcome,
Maybe this helps, When you finish to wash your car go drive for a while, then the heat .. will dry the humidity.
-About the rust, there's nothing to be afraid of; If is just 1 week in that way.

I get the rusty rotors after washing too. If you drive it around after washing the pads and rotors will dry preventing the rust. If this is not done then the rust itself is not a big deal, but the pads will want to stick to the rotors next time you drive off. Once you do drive off the rotors will clean themselves.

I would not worry about the tires when the car is sitting for a week either. I try to drive mine at least once a week, but it has sat for up to a month with no problems. If you know that it is going to be sitting for longer than a month, some people add extra air to the tires, others put the car on jackstands, or use the tire cradles.

There is a recent TSB on this. Here is the message:

"4/02 4650

Binder Group 4, Running Gear

Corrosion on Brake Discs
Vehicle Type: 911 Carrera (996)/911 Carrera 4 (996)

Model Year: As of MY 1999 (X)

Concern: Corrosion on the brake discs.

Information:
Due to inquiries regarding corroded brake discs, the following text will appear in the vehicle Owner's Manual as of Model Year 2003.

The following text can also be helpful when discussing corroded brake discs with customers.

To prevent corrosion of the brake discs, "brake them dry" before parking the car. Even though the brake discs consist of alloyed grey cast iron, they will unavoidably start to corrode if your car is parked for an extended period. The brakes will tend to "rub" as a result. The nature, extent and effects of corrosion depend on the amount of time the vehicle was parked, whether granular or liquid road salt was spread and whether grease dissolving agents were used in car washes. If the braking comfort is noticeably impaired, we recommend having the brake system checked by a Porsche dealer."
