Just had fitted the Porsche sports exhaust...
...on my 996 C4. VERY nice sound and ROARS when pushed. Also went for the sports tail pipes - a bit BIG for my liking though, makes the back of the car look a bit 'riced', but I suppose I'll get used to it.
Highly recommend the upgrade!

Congrats on the new exhaust. If you can judge how load your new exhuast is compared to the original, is it twice as loud, half as loud?
I just had a Cargraphic sport exhaust installed on my 996 Cab and I can estimate that it's at least 2 times louder than stock, which I'm not sure I like. The mistake was having it installed with the hard top on.....we'll have to see how it works out for me in the spring. One good thing is my wife likes it, she said "this is the way it's supposed to sound".

I'd say the exhaust is not quite twice as loud - but almost. However, doesn't sound anti-social at all. Also, with the Porsche item, the noise cuts out between 25mph and 45mph, so you don't disturb quiet neighbourhoods while you're driving through.
Of course, if you accelerate through the neighbourhood, everyone will be treated to the sound of a fantastic sports car.

I got my '03 C4S with the sport exhaust and I really like it. It sounds terrific and the dash switch is pretty nice to be able to quiet it down in the early mornings to remain on good terms with the neighbors. Soon I'll do the "hack" to remove the 25 to 45 MPH "auto-quiet" because it really is kind of weird when you are accelerating and it's louder... then softer... then louder.
Cheers,
Ken

Is it rude to ask you who fitted the sports exhaust and how much it cost? Did you investigate the dash switch as an alternative?

Paul - the exhaust was fitted by AFN Chiswick a couple of weeks ago. Not cheap though, unfortunately , but worth it to keep everything OEM.
It cost about £1,600 including labour, plus the sports exhaust tips which were £300.
Where in the UK are you based? - I'n in North West London, so if you're close buy you can come round to here it 'in the flesh'. Word of warning though - once you've heard the exhaust, you'll almost definitely buy one, so be prepared!
Oh - I thought about the switch and it was actually on order, but I've cancelled it as I think the exhaust doesn't sound at all offensively loud even late at night (unless you rev the engine, of course). The switch itself is only about £30, but costs £80ish to fit. Not really necessary anyway, IMHO.

Thanks Jason.
I'm in Hampstead GS so wherever you are cannot be far away. If I get serious maybe I'll email you and take you up on your offer.
Kind regards.

HAd the Porsche Factory SPorts exhaust fitted by the dealer for the Factory Option price of 3300 canadian dollars icluding labour, which equates to 1350 quid. I have the on/off switch located above and to the left of the spoiler switch in the carpeted footwell area. When I ordered my C4S, the dealer told me the sports exhaust was NOT available as a factory option and they had no code for it in Canada. After some research and great help from this forum, I convinced the dealer that it should have been available and they agreed to install it after delivery for the factory option price. I agree with Paul, once you hear it you will have to have it. I was at a track day last week in Portland Oregon and with the drivers window down at 7000rpm right next to a concrete barrier on the left.........

Agreed every single one should be fitted this way ! I just fitted the DANSK Factory Sport Exhaust w/o the valves! Picked it up from Performance Products (Automotion!) and IMO the price was incredible -$1k
