I don't think the thread is a flame either, just economic fact about the 996 which is depreciating at Lincoln Continental rates
For my sake I hope prices keep falling so I will have the option of getting either a 993 or 996 for the same money in two years when the BMW is paid off
I wonder however what Porsche thinks about this turn of events. Will they go back to air cooled? Or maybe slash prices $10-$15k like we saw that year with the MB 500SL?

Not a chance of a price reduction. The dollar has rebounded a little from its lows of mid July vs the EURO, but it is still well below its 52 week high. Realistically, the currency fluctuation means that in EURO terms Porsche is selling cars today for 10% less than it did 12 months ago.

I see it three ways why TGH is so concerned with market values of the 996.
1. He's concerned of PAG's direction
2. He's glad he got his C2S and laughing his a$$ off
3. He want's to get one knowing it's a better performer then his car
4. IM0 I don't give a hoot about resale values- I drive for the pleasure of it and to this day(4 years and going) still love my darn car : ). Regards. Mike

I'm with you!
I always wonder when people are buing Porsche (or any car I guess) and they ask advice, it seems that most important thing in the car is the future re-sell value? <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />
I'd rather think if it looks & drives way I want etc!
Same thing with mods, I do mods because I like the way they make my Porsche look better or go faster/better. Not how much I'll lose or get money when (if I ever) I sell it.
Come one people!

Very surprised the car is selling at this price given that:
(1) its got 18" Turbo Twist wheels/rims; and
(2) its got a Tip transmission.
(3) CarFax checks out (only question is when is the CarFax dated?)
Even with this sort of mileage, this car should be selling at around 45K in a private-transaction.
Would rerun the CarFax, and question the owner on price.
Remember, if its too good to be true...
Regards.
